Most people chat with AI. They re-explain their business every session, paste the same instructions over and over, and wonder why the output comes back generic.

The fix isn’t better prompting. It’s giving it files it reads before you type a word.

This prompt builds those files for you. Paste it into whatever AI you already use, then answer its six questions honestly. Takes about 15 minutes.

PROMPT (Copy and paste the below text):

I want you to help me build a working folder structure so you stop forgetting who I am every time I open a new chat.

Here’s the structure I’m going for. One top-level folder called OS. Inside it, one folder per area of my work. Three kinds of files do the heavy lifting.

First, a file called CLAUDE.md at the top of OS. This holds who I am, my standards, and how I want you to work. It loads every session.

Second, files called SKILL.md. These live inside OS/.claude/skills/, with one folder per skill, and a file called SKILL.md inside each folder. One folder per repeatable process, so I stop retyping instructions.

Third, context folders inside each area folder. These hold verified facts about my business. You may cite these. You may never cite anything in an output folder, because that is your own previous work, not evidence.

Before you write anything, interview me. Ask these one at a time and wait for my answer after each one.

  • What do I actually do, and who for?

  • What are the three to five areas of my work that deserve their own folder?

  • What do I find myself re-explaining to AI over and over?

  • What are the processes I repeat every week or month?

  • What does good work mean to me, and what makes me reject a draft?

  • What are the facts about my business that AI keeps getting wrong or making up?

Then, using my answers, write out the full folder tree with every path spelled out, the complete contents of my root CLAUDE.md, one SKILL.md for the process I repeat most with real steps from my answers, and a list of the specific files I need in each context folder with what goes in each.

Rules for you: Use my actual words and my actual business, with no placeholder text. If you do not know something about me, ask instead of inventing it. Keep CLAUDE.md under 200 lines, facts and standing instructions only, because anything that is a numbered list of steps belongs in a skill instead.

— END OF PROMPT —

What you'll end up with

  • A CLAUDE.md that holds who you are, and loads every session before you type a word.

  • SKILL.md files that hold how you work, so you stop re-pasting the same instructions.

  • context folders that hold what's true, so it stops making things up.

Don't rush the six questions. The prompt is only as good as what you tell it about your work: vague answers in, generic folders out.

Stuck, or it built you something strange? Just reply. I read everything.
